MADNESS UPDATE AND MEET Klein!

What a weekend!

Before we get to the brackets, I want to introduce you to a special young man, Klein.

Heliclenio Dozolo is known by most as Klein. He is in 9th grade and along with working at Common Grounds Café, is a junior mentor for The Root Cellar’s after-school mentoring program and recently started participating in the Lew Crew’s small group study on David!
We asked Klein to describe himself using three. His response? “ I’m funny, hard working and cool. 😎
For fun, Klein enjoys sports (basketball and skiing rank among the top), watching horror movies, learning, working out 🏋🏾, singing, dancing 🕺🏾 and playing video games.
Klein enjoys working at Common Grounds because of the important things he’s learning that can be helpful at present and in the future. He also loves the people he is surrounded by.
Klein’s favorite item on our menu is, “probably the breakfast sandwich, hot cocoa, coffee and cinnamon buns.”

Your donations through MADNESS on a MISSION will support jobs and training for teens like Klein. Last year 50 teens learned, worked, grew and played together in our Teen Work Experiences in Portland and Lewiston. Your generosity has a genuine ripple effect on the life of these teens.

BRACKET UPDATE!

It’s finally here - THE FINAL 4!

The Sweet 16 and Elite 8 games gave us some suprises, as St. Peters continued to bust brackets. Arizona and Gonzaga - each a number 1 seed - were sent home early. But when the dust settled it was 4 blue bloods left standing. Villinova will play Kansas on Saturday and - for the first time ever - Duke and UNC will face off in the NCAA Tournament.

Just typing that raises my anxiety level to a 12!

It’s no secret that I’m a UNC fan. Since I was young, I have always checked the brackets and wondered if this would be the year that it happened. They have come close, but this matchup was always avoided somehow.

So how big is this? I will let John Candy say it for me.

MADNESS on a MISSION Leader Board

Even with St. Peters blowing up everyone’s picks, it’s still really close, but one bracket has taken the lead. Drew King, former Executive Director and current RC Board Member, is in the lead and has the only bracket that picked the Final 4 correctly! He has Kansas losing to Duke in the championship (please, no!), so a lot can change over the weekend! Where are you ranking?

RANDOM WINNERS!

We draw winners each week for some sweet RC Gear!

Congrats to Monque Hayes of New Orleans, LA and James Aldon of Littleton, NH!

You get your pick of our super soft and comfy RC hoodie!

We are so thankful for each of you, your generosity and support. It’s a blast an honor to be partnered with you.

Thank you for making your picks count!

LET’S GO Tar Heels!
