Welcome to Madness on a Mountain!
Last year, our own Damon Crouse Skimo’d (hike up and ski down) 54 laps at Lost Valley over 24 hours and raised over $34,000 to support our amazing teens!
This year, our teens were so inspired that they have decided to join Damon on a quest to raise $45,000 to support a full year of teen jobs in Lewiston!
How does it work?
On Saturday, March 22nd, our staff and teens will head to Lost Valley to complete as many skimo laps as possible in an 8 hour window. Our teens are inviting you to support them and help raise $45,000 to support LEW CREW Teen Work Experiences!
We have three teams lead by one staff member and 7 teens. Each team will have 8 hours to hike up lost valley and ski down as many times as they can. Every team member will make the trek, but Only 1 person may be going at 1 time.

Lew Crew - Preparing teens for ALL of Life
Last year, The Root Cellar Lewiston was able to offer over 100 teenagers their first job.
Through our LewCrew Work Experience, Teens get to learn how to work! Over the course of the year, teens have the option to work in lawn care , our Common Grounds Cafe as a barista, as Mentors to the younger kids in our programming and as English Language Teachers to our adult English students, and develop their own small business such as jewelry making, coffee roasting and woodworking to name a few. As part of the LewCrew they get to participate in our elective classes which have included, financial literacy, psychology, fitness + nutrition, knitting, healthy relationships and SKIING!
