Where do You come in?

Asylum seekers often face hurdles in adjusting to the United States. The immigration process is lengthy and intimidating. That is where you come in. By walking alongside a family you can help make the transition to America much easier. By serving as a guide you can be an encouraging voice and a help to those who are new to America. You are the best person to show a newcomer the places of importance in your community!

Teamwork is essential to welcoming new immigrant families. As you work together you can build a community that is strong, interwoven and reliable. The Root Cellar recommends a team of at least 8-25 people in a Welcome Team to ensure that responsibilities can be divided. The recommended roles for a sponsorship group include:

Roles

  • Leadership

  • Prayer

  • Education

  • Employment

  • Finance

  • Cultural Team

  • Health

  • Housing

  • Transportation
