Christmas Store in Portland

It's 2020, so of course, everything is different. There are some big - but exciting - changes in the Christmas Program at The Root Cellar this year.

In keeping with the State of Maine's COVID 19 related guidelines, we have made several adjustments to create a safe experience for all involved and spread some cheer to our neighborhood kids.

Starting before Thanksgiving through the 2nd week of December, registered families will have the opportunity to shop the store by appointment, keeping our crowd size low and safe.

We are collaborating with East End Community School  and our local Head Start. They will help us focus this effort to identify and include the families most in need of the program. This means that we will be serving children from ages newborn to ten years old - and right now, we expect that to translate into 261 local children!

There are 3 options to donate to The Christmas Store, allowing everyone to get involved in whatever way is comfortable:

  1. We can send an individual child's wish list from Amazon. When you purchase from this list, the gifts will automatically be sent to The Root Cellar in Portland. Contact Christine@therootcellar.org for your Amazon Wish List link!

  2. Give a cash donation and we will shop for you! Make a donation to The Root Cellar's giving page and make sure to click the "Christmas Store" option. We will keep you in the know which toys are purchased!

  3. Drop Off you gifts at our office! We are open and would love to see you!

All of this happens because of you.

Your amazing generosity creates the opportunity for our neighbors to experience the good tidings and great joy in the midst of the challenges of this year.
