Bringing Women Together Again in Portland

Sewing in Portland

The Portland sewing program is being reborn with the two amazing volunteers and 5 neighbor women who are interested in learning! Vicki Leighton, our lead volunteer has taught women on the mission field and is so excited for this opportunity to teach in Portland, Maine. Over the past week she’s spent hours finding simple sewing projects. Joining her is Alix Gebelien, who has been part of The Root Cellar’s International Woman’s Tea for the past 14 years.

Ladies Breakfast Begins In-Person Meetings

After months of meeting only on Zoom, the Ladies Breakfast Program was thrilled to be able to meet in person again. They spent their time catching up, reading and praying, and creating a giant beautiful basket full of hand-made supplies for a friend who was going through very difficult times. Although we wore our masks and socially distanced, laughter and joy were the hallmark of the day. We hope to continue to meet in-person once every month throughout the rest of the year.
