Turkey Basket Delivery Day

This is one of our favorite days of the year!

For the past 8 years, volunteers and neighbors have gathered at The Root Cellar in Lewiston to donate and deliver laundry baskets filled with everything needed for a bountiful Thanksgiving Day feast!

Special thanks to our friends from The Church of the Brethren, East Auburn Baptist Church and Redemption Hill Community for organizing and promoting this incredible day! And thanks to The Italian Baker for fueling the work with donuts!

At The Root Cellar, we pray the Lords Prayer regularly together. One of the lines is a petition to, “give us this day our daily bread...” It speaks to the recognition that we all have needs, and that we are relying on our Heavenly Father to provide enough for all. He likes to use us to answer prayers like this.

This past Saturday, so many gathered to answer that prayer in a small but meaningful way. This gift allows neighbors in need to bless others and next Thursday, 134 families will be gathering together blessing others with food and relationship.

What a blessing it is to be part of this neighborhood and in this work with each of you!

Happy Thanksgiving!
