Welcome to the team, Alyssa!
We are excited to announced that Alyssa Reiff has joined our team in Portland as our newest Program Coordinator!
Alyssa grew up serving within her parents church ministry across southern New Hampshire and is a recent graduate from Messiah College in Mechanicsburg, PA. God has placed on her heart a deep desire to return to New England and join a ministry that serves within vulnerable communities. "I grew up as part of a very strong faith community, soaked in the atmosphere of faith."
She has already jumped into the life of our ministry, serving in after-school, Friends and Neighbors Networks, planning summer programing and helping to welcome 40+ new asylum seekers families as part of a Cultural Orientation at EastPoint Church just last week.
"I'm excited about all fo the opportunities that The Root Cellar offers," remarks Alyssa. "In my first few week, I've been able to interact and work with many kids and adults from very diverse backgrounds faiths."
Alyssa joins our staff in Portland at a crucial time, as we seek to respond to the needs of our neighbors as well the growing asylum seeker community in South Portland.
"Today - I was watching Tippy - one of our volunteers - as she lead an English class. I am so excited to join her and be part of this work and contribute to this ministry."
