Summer is here!

We think normal feels pretty spectacular.

Would you prayerfully consider what you can do to support this ministry?

This is a chance to deeply impact th lives of our children and teens today and well into the future.

Your generosity, faith and love will make all the difference!

It’s going to be an amazing summer for the children and teens of our neighborhoods in Portland and Lewiston.

We are inviting you to be part of all of it all! This isn’t just a chance to raise funds for a special program, this is a chance to invest in summer jobs for teens and creating a fun and normal space for our kids to be - well, kids.

Our youngest of neighbors were hit hard in unique ways over the past 14 months. The idea of “normal” has become difficult to describe for each of us, and our children have struggled through it all as well.

Last March, they were forced away from one another and many of their loved ones. They spent their school day hours learning from a screen and wearing a mask. It’s taken a toll on youth across the world and in our own homes. The families we serve are no different, but face many additional difficulties that have made life even more challenging.

This summer, we get back to normal. And for The Root Cellar, a normal summer is pretty spectacular.

Here’s a taste of all that we have planned over the next 8-10 weeks!

  • 7 Weeks of RC Kids Summer Day Camp in Portland

  • 8 Weeks of Super Summer Day Camp in Lewiston

  • More than 25 Summer Jobs for Teens, including Day Camp Squad Leaders, Junior Squad Leaders, and Lawn Care workers including Leadership, Job Skill Development and several exciting learning electives!

  • 7 Summer Staff Young Adults serving with us through Americorps

  • Weekly Field Trips and Daily Learning Opportunties

  • Each Child discovering their place in God’s Kingdom and how they are made to serve and love

This may be the most pivotal summer in the lives of each of our children and teens.

To do all of this, we are raising a total of $30,000 - $15,000 for Portland and $15,000 in Lewiston - to support these incredible programs. We already have some funding for some of these projects, but this will fully fund this summer’s programing in each city.

Let’s make this a summer of smiles, hope and love for these amazing kids and teens. We hope that you will join us, and make a donation today!
