God's Kingdom Takes Root in Summer Day Camps
By Christina Ekholm, Coordinator, RC Portland
We spent the summer talking about God’s Kingdom and how we are not only invited to live forever with Him in it - a place where there is no crying or fighting - but that we are called to participate in the transformational process of His kingdom coming down to earth.
Between cleaning up their neighborhood, learning how to be good stewards of the building, and showing gratitude to those who help their community, they didn’t want to waste another minute sitting idle.
Needless to say, these are the faces and little hearts that will change our world for the better. Thank you for pouring into them with your prayers and donations.

This past summer was very unique and challenging, but it was beautiful as well. Because we were serving so many Angolan families that were new to the country, many of our children and teens did not speak English.
“I have never seen the level of cooperation, encouragement, compassion and desire to help one another. There was so much diversity, it reminded me of what heaven will be like. ”
I have never seen the level of cooperation, encouragement, compassion and desire to help one another. There was so much diversity, it reminded me of what heaven will be like.
Throughout Super Summer, we were learning about love, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, kindness and forgiveness. One of our children, Robert, was handicapped and bound to a wheelchair. The other children always looked to include him in whatever we were doing - pushing him while we were kicking a soccer ball or playing tag. They never forgot him and never complained. All the different cultures and personalities came together and there was gentle care for one another. It was an example of what Jesus has done for us, an example of His Kingdom.
