Drew King, Executive Director, Announces Retirement
Our current ED, Drew King, has decided to retire, also effective April 1. In addition to traveling and chasing his granddaughters around, Drew - along with his wife, Christine - will stay connected to us as volunteers and donors. Drew is also interested in joining our Board of Trustees and will apply later this year. We're grateful to Drew for his leadership over the past two and a half years and we look forward to his support in the future. He has left an impact on each member of our team. His leadership, humility, and kindness will be missed on a day-to-day basis, but he and Christine will always be part of The Root Cellar family.
We are pleased to announce that, effective April 1, Joel Furrow will become the Executive Director of The Root Cellar.
The Root Cellar will be in good hands with Joel at the helm. We are blessed to have a young leader with such vision, talent, and experience, who is committed to seeking God's kingdom in diverse communities of need. After graduating from Liberty University with a degree in Intercultural Studies in Religion - during which he spent a year studying in Amman, Jordan. Joel has served in and led urban ministries in Atlanta, Boston, Lewiston, and Portland, working with at-risk youth, immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers. He has faithfully led The Root Cellar in Lewiston over the last 8 years and has provided program leadership in Portland since June of 2019. He was part of the team that developed TRC's Mission, Vision, and Values statements several years ago, designed our new website, and worked with staff to develop new programs and ministries. Joel will lead the staff, program development, strategic planning, and fundraising efforts for The Root Cellar in each location and will report to the Board of Trustees.
We hope you will join us in congratulating both Drew and Joel as they start exciting new chapters.
