Join us and help us replace the root cellar van!
Our vans are an incredible resource for our programming. They are used in every effort and nearly every day. We transport over 50,000 tons of food each year for our Friends and Neighbors Networks. Through out the year, they are used for field trips for kids, teens and adult students. Occasionally, we are able to help a neighbor move from one apartment to another.
We need a van
Our oldest van, a 1999 Ford E350, was donated to us years ago by a local church and we have worked hard to get the as much life out of it as possible - she's been good to us. Over the years, many local church contacts have help us keep it running and on the road, and we couldn’t be more grateful for those generous efforts.
However, our van is at that all too familiar point that many old vehicles get in Maine. We no longer can justify the expense of repairs and feel that we should wisely steward the your generous support.
This need is current, as we are right in the middle of our Super Summer Day Camp and we are hoping to have this in place before the end of July.
here’s the plan
Our vans are well loved and well used. In all seriousness - our work to see the Kingdom come in our neighborhood is greatly impacted by the access to passenger vans!
Our hope is to find a used, lower mileage rust-free passenger van in a different region of the country and road-trip it back to Maine. Ideally, this will ensure a long life of use at The Root Cellar and will be a huge blessing to our neighbors.
