Loving our neighbors since 1984
In 1984 a small group of volunteers from a local church in the Munjoy Hill Neighborhood of Portland decided to respond to the growing needs and increased crime with love and hope.
Their goal was to have an open, safe space for teens in the neighborhood, offering services and demonstrating the love of God and love of neighbor. They found space in a neighborhood church’s basement that had historically been used to store crops through the winter - a root cellar - even complete with a dirt floor.
We stand on the shoulders of those who have gone before us, loving God and loving our neighbors. When our neighborhoods are facing challenges, we fall back on our roots - we respond with love and hope.
We invite you to join us over the next few months, to celebrate all that God has done and dream with us about the next 35 years as we seek to love God and love our neighbors as ourselves within our neighborhoods.
