Welcoming the stranger
ELL Mission | To provide an opportunity for our immigrant neighbors to learn the English language through cultural and community based skill building.
African Immigrants from The Congo, Angola, Djibouti and Somalia make up over 20% of Lewiston’s general population, and a much higher percentage of the Tree Streets Neighborhood. We are so thankful for the chance to share life with our new neighbors, and although we teach the English language, it is always the volunteer teachers and our staff that learn the most.
Childcare is provided for students and volunteers.
Our Volunteer ELL Team
Our teachers, tutors and childcare workers represent many different local churches, working together to respond to the needs of our neighbors from away. They work tirelessly to organize lesson plans and resources - serving our neighbors with high quality and commitment. Seriously though - they rock.
